First Working Meeting
January 22-23, 2008, Tbilisi


The first meeting within the frame of the Tempus project “Developing new applied biosciences and biotechnology curricula at Tbilisi State University” was organized in Tbilisi, at the Vere Palace Hotel on 22-23 January, 2008. 
The members of project working group, along with representatives of Tbilisi State University, Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, Tbilisi State Medical University, Georgian State Agrarian University, Euro Commission and the National Tempus Office (NTO) Georgia participated in the meeting.
Official presentation of the project was performed at the first day meeting. In his introductory speech Prof. Giorgi Khubua, a rector of Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, underlined significance of the project and its role for further advances in education processes at TSU. He expressed his belief that the project working team would achieve prescribed tasks.
The Project Director, Prof. Steve Neill (University of West of England) and the Project Coordinator, Dr. Nino Inasaridze (Tbilisi State University) gave a detailed presentation of  a New Bachelor Degree Program.
The coordinator of National Tempus Office Georgia, Tamara Tsulukidze greeted the participants and reviewed main objectives, priorities and future plans of the project. The Dean of the Faculty of Exact and Natural sciences prof. R,Bochorishvili, the invited experts - Prof.Henry Parry (University of West of England) and Dr. Nino Chubinidze (Head of National QA agency of Georgia) were also among the presenters.
On the next day, the project working group discussed proposed structure and content of the new program, designed specific tasks and plans for future activities.
